Okay, so can I just say how excited I am to have the new book, Thug Kitchen 101: Fast as Fuck, in my hands? I felt like it was my birthday, or Christmas come early.
The more I page through this bad boy, the more I fall in love with it. The layout is awesome. The little symbols showing things like whether or not it’s good for leftovers, freezable, gluten-free, and so on, are so useful. The symbol for gluten-free, is a hand flippin’ wheat the bird. Too funny. Had me cracking up.
You can tell the Thugs have put a lot of time and effort into making this book super easy to use. From the crazy all-encompassing index at the back, to the little ‘time-it takes-to-make’ indicators on each page, they’ve thought about it all. It’s smooth and easy.
And I have a whole newfound respect for the Thugs after seeing page 138. I can’t even…I was literally giggling out loud. Let’s just say that if you’re a fan of the film ‘The Big Lebowsky’, you’re gonna love pages 138 and 139.
So, where to start with this bad boy?
With the Crispy Spaghetti Pie of course! It had to be that or the wine cake. Both crazy-amazing sounding inventions.
I rustled this bad boy up in the time they said it would take, and sat down to chow down with my family.
It turned out great. It’s actually such a family-friendly food. I mean, kids are gonna love this stuff. My kid certainly did. It was easy to make and delicious, and I had nearly all the ingredients lying around the house already. (Not literally lying around in weird places, like tins of sauce under the couch…but y’all know what I’m sayin’).
I nearly made the rookie mistake of forgetting the breadcrumbs. I’d already poured it all in the springform and sprayed it with oil, when I suddenly remembered that I’d left out the breadcrumbs. I’m glad I remembered before it went in the oven. (Having done that before with a cake where I’d left out the butter, I’ve learnt that it does not end well if you try to add it in once it’s in the oven already. Trust.)
P.S. Also, never trust a dirty sink. Leave those sticky spaghetti bastards in there.
That shit looks amazing. I want to make one in a bundt pan. THAT’S RIGHT!
